The Crown Jewel of the North Atlantic Coast awaits you! Our visit to Acadia National Park will combine a guided bus tour with a horse drawn carriage ride. See Mt. Battie, Portland Headlight, and breathtaking coastline on this fabulous 4 day tour at a great price!
Day 1:
Our travels to the beautiful coastline of Maine bring us to our home location, Belfast, Maine. Formerly a prosperous shipbuilding center, Belfast is a community of restored Federal and early Victorian homes built by sea merchants.
Our home for three nights will be the award winning Fireside Inn and Suites Ocean Edge where every room offers a view of Penobscot Bay. Enjoy the indoor heated mineral pool, dinner in the Ocean Edge Dining Room or relax by the bay.
Day 2:
After breakfast, we set out with our knowledgeable tour guide for a full day of touring in Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Our loop tour brings us to the top of Cadillac Mountain**, stopping along the way to view Frenchmen’s Bay, Thunder Hole, the Atlantic Ocean and more.
Afterwards, we will have time for lunch before enjoying a narrated scenic one hour horse-drawn carriage ride around the mountain, meandering in and out of the woods. The carriage roads were constructed by John D. Rockefellar as a means by which the wealthy could enjoy riding the Park.
Mid afternoon we return to downtown Bar Harbor to enjoy shopping time and dinner before returning to our hotel.
(Breakfast included)
Day 3:
After breakfast, we visit Camden State Park with the stunning view atop Mount Battie, and tour the coastal towns of Rockport and Camden. We stop at the popular Maine State Prison Showroom where unique handmade treasures can be purchased. We will also enjoy beautiful downtown Rockland known as the “Gateway to Penobscot Bay" with its many fabulous restaurants. (Breakfast included)
Day 4:
After breakfast, we leave our bayview home and travel to “Longfellow’s City by the Sea”, Portland. We visit one of the most scenic and photographed locations along the coastline, the Portland Headlight Lighthouse on Cape Elizabeth with its breathtaking view, museum and gift shop. There will be time afterwards for lunch and shopping time in the Old Port Historic District before our return trip home. (Breakfast included)
