Our seaside adventure begins arriving midafternoon at the beautiful LaMer Resort in Cape May. Perched on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, your hotel offers spacious modern rooms and an ideal location to the beachfront and Cape May’s boardwalk. Tonight, dinner is included at Cape May’s premier restaurant, the historic Washington Inn for a fabulous dining experience. (Dinner included)
After breakfast we head to the Washington Street Mall in the historic district with its world class shops, cafes, and restaurants along cobblestone flowered filled streets. After lunch we tour the 1879 Emeln Physick Estate, Cape May’s only Victorian mansion museum with 18 rooms authentically restored to their original grandeur. We will learn about the history of Cape May and view the beautiful Victorian homes and architecture on our East/West Trolley Tour.
This evening there will be several options available to enjoy dinner at the hotel or nearby restaurants. (Breakfast included)
After breakfast we head to the nearby Cape May-Lewes Ferry dock to enjoy our shore to shore excursion to Lewes, Delaware.
Crossing the Delaware Bay during late spring offers you the opportunity to see whales, dolphins, eagles, pelicans and ospreys. Arriving in historic Lewes late morning, you are in store for a day of rich history in this first town in the first State. Our guide takes us to a bygone era of a booming maritime center and nautical trades and its rich history which was first settled in 1631 by the Dutch. You’ll enjoy the naturally beautiful area with beaches on both the ocean and bay.
After our 90 minute tour, enjoy lunch in the quaint town with top quality restaurants, antique stores and sales tax free shopping. Later this afternoon we return back to Cape May aboard our ferry. This evening is free to enjoy dinner in town or at our hotel. (Breakfast included)
After breakfast we travel beyond Victorian Cape May to Cape May Point and the fully restored 1859 Cape May Lighthouse, one of the oldest continually operating lighthouses in the U.S. Returning home, we stop at the historic Smithville Village, featuring over 60 unique shops, a carousel, train and paddleboats all in a vintage setting. With its abundant shopping, events, and eateries, this is the perfect way to end off a great four days! (Breakfast included)
