Our travels through upstate New York brings us to picturesque town of Clayton and the luxurious 4-star resort, the 1000 Islands Harbor Hotel, our home for two nights. Nestled on the shores of the St. Lawrence River, you’ll enjoy space deluxe rooms, great amenities, lushly landscaped grounds and the opportunity to enjoy evenings by the firepits all amidst breathtaking beauty.
Following breakfast we set out for Alexandria Bay to board Uncle Sam Two-Nation Cruise. This international cruise will take you on a 22 mile round-trip through American and Canadian waters – what is considered the ‘heart’ of the 1000 Islands. You will enjoy a visit to the Rhineland 129 room castle, Boldt Castle on Heart Island, built in the early 1900’s by George Boldt, millionaire proprietor of the world famous Waldorf Astoria. (Those wishing can substitute the Two-Nation Cruise with the Singer Island Cruise and Boldt Castle. See details above).
After our cruise, enjoy downtown Alexandria Bay for lunch and shopping before returning to our beautiful resort home. (Breakfast included)
After breakfast we head to Herkimer, NY. Here we enjoy a full narrated 90 minute cruise on the historic Erie Canal, which includes a trip through Lock 18. This “liquid elevator” raises and lowers vessels over 20 feet! We’ll learn of the past, present and future of the world’s most iconic man-made waterway. Mid afternoon we head home with great memories of the legendary 1000 Islands and Erie Canal! (Breakfast included)
